Reflection for Criteria A

Reflection on the research of printers

-I enjoyed learning about the new types of printer and how they work(Method for printing and the first printer invented)

-I found difficult to understand how some of the printer works, because website which I was looking had to much professional words in paragraphs.

-I really worked well on writing paragraphs about Chester Calson who was the first person to invent printer.

-Next time I will put more images and the URL for video about printers, so people can understand better.

Criterion B-Developing Idea

Design Specification
Aesthetics
It has brown woods covered on first floor, but there are 2 big windows near the garden, so it sunlight can come inside the house. Also I need a marbles for decoration next to the windows. First floor will be brown, due to the color of the woods and the second/ third floor will be yellow, so people who lives there feel more confortable

Cost
It might cost about 1,250,000$, because it will be made out of expensive materials like Carbons, Iron, woods and Silk.
Environmental consideration
This will be used for people who is homeless or beggars. Sometimes it might be used for people who are old. Basically it will solve the problem for people dying, because they don’t have money to live or for home
Customer
People who doesn’t have money to live, beggar, homeless people and old aged people.
Function
 The purpose is to and function is to protect and give a comforts for people who is living and make them safe from other dangerous stuff.
Manufacture
Time to make this house might take 3 month. Well that quick comparing to other buildings, but the limitations are that there might be some limitation for materials and it will delay building houses.
Materials
Woods (trunk), concrete (wall),  Iron bar(pole), brick(wall), Window.
Safety
It shouldn’t be near the dangerous animals or place where it can harm people’s health.
Size
 The size will be enough for at least 4 to 6 people to live together. It  will be approximately   150square meter.

I am going to make a house for people who is homeless or who lost their whole entire money. Some people dies, because they don't have a house or safe place to live. As a result the population will decrease. To prevent that we should care about other people. For example homeless people and people who doesn't have money to live

My first floor should be made out of woods, as a result the colour of the floor will be brown. Also On top of the roof there will be a window for sunlights to come inside house. The ring at the top will be a climate changer which can control the climate.

3D Printing

WHAT IS 3D PRINTING
A process for making a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model, typically by laying down many successive thin layers of a material.


HOW DOES 3D PRINTING WORK?
The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive process an object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the entire object is created.


Types of Printers



First person who made the printer was Chester Carlson. Chester Carlson was born on February 8,1906 and died on September 19,1968. He studied in California Institute of Technology, New York Law School, Riverside City College and spent his life for 14 years. When he finished his career, he thought that he wanted to invent which will make our life easier. Then he thought that he is going to make a machine printer. He invented the first printer called Xerox which uses dried printing method. Xerox became the base of laser printers’ technology that followed.

Impact printers

An impact printer makes contact with the paper. It usually forms the print image by pressing an inked ribbon against the paper using a hammer or pins. Following are some examples of impact printers.

 Dot-Matrix Printers

The dot-matrix printer uses print heads containing from 9 to 24 pins. These pins produce patterns of dots on the paper to form the individual characters.

Line printers

In business where enormous amount of material are printed, the character-at-a-time printers are too slow; therefore, these users need line-at-a-time printers.

Drum printer

A drum printer consists of a solid, cylindrical drum that has raised characters in bands on its surface. The number of print positions across the drum equals the number available on the page.

Chain printers

A chain printer uses a chain of print characters wrapped around two pulleys. Like the drum printer, there is one hammer for each print position.

Non-impact printers

Non-impact printers do not use a striking device to produce characters on the paper; and because these printers do not hammer against the paper they are much quieter. Following are some non-impacted printers.

Ink-jet printers

Ink-jet printers work in the same fashion as dot-matrix printers in the form images or characters with little dots.

Laser printers

A laser printer works like a photocopy machine. Laser printers produce images on paper by directing a laser beam at a mirror which bounces the beam onto a drum.















Exploring TinkerCAD creation




This is a dice which i made. I had to take out numbers from the setting then I compressed the numbers on dice. After that i have grouped them together to make sure it is in the right place.



This is the cufflink which i have made. I have used the copy and pasting skills with changing the directions and heights. After that i took 'O' and 'K' then compressed them on top of the cylinder.




This is a name-tag which i have made. I have used Letters from setting then compressed them on  name tag. To make sure it is in the right place i have group them.

I used compressing skills and taking shapes from settings and  how to group them together. Then I learned how to make them float.

I am a student in Emirates International School Meadows. As part of the MYP carriculam in term 1 we are using the software called TinkerCAD which helps design 3D projects. Computer Aided Design has evolved as a unique way of creating 2D and 3D objects. It is used to create precision drawings or technical illustrations.


As part of the MYP Project I have decided to design a house, because I want to build a house for other people who doesn't have houses. It will be a great opportunity have a proper life to them and feel safe.

Design Situation

Design Situation

Explore TinkerCAD lessons


This is a dice which i made. I had to take out numbers from the setting then I compressed the numbers on dice. After that i have grouped them together to make sure it is in the right place.
